Olivia du Vergier is an artist filmmaker. Born in Naarm (1995), she is currently based in Hastings, UK.
Her practice examines the instability of communication, exploring moments of misunderstanding as sites where meaning is actively reshaped. Working across moving image, photography, drawing and writing, she constructs situations in which language falters - mistaken messages, misheard conversations, disrupted gestures - to examine how interpretation both slips and reforms. By foregrounding these fragments, her work asks what new relationships and narratives can emerge when communication breaks down, and how these unstable exchanges reveal the porousness of our attempts to understand one another.

Du Vergier is a 2025-2026 artist-in-residence with Flatland Projects and
De La Warr Pavillion.
